Why People Should Travel

Stepping down from their ivory towers enlighten people that there’s an entire world before them. Only when they are outside their microcosmic comfort zones would their minds crack open to all the beautiful destinations in the world.

Since time immemorial, journeying has been the world’s widest-ranging panacea to bigotry. Thrown at close range with each other, people from different cultures have the opportunity to scrutinize each other, the first step to working out differences. They become more respectful people; Marco Polo learned that halfway around the world.

There is really no need to clip those wings when utopia is at stake. No one wants the next Holocaust or geopolitical instability. Everybody cannot appreciate themselves too if they are as mobile as trees stuck on their roots.

Besides, new mindsets are fledged when people brush with other cultures. While traditional and novel media have done much to make the world a smaller place, virtual intimacy is still no substitute for, say, sitting right next to the tombs of saints.

As traveling finally segues into space tourism in the near future, one could only hope for a better world. Everyone should be there as travel pushes to the last frontier, charting the remotest realms of self-improvement.

We travel to be better people. To explore, to get to know cultures and peoples besides ours.
